The invention discloses a method for removing stripe noise in an infrared image. The method comprises the steps that (S1) specific line data of a to-be-filtered image Aim is selected, and the width N1 of a stripe is obtained according to frequency spectrum information of the specific line data; (S2) a specific line sequence of the image is intercepted into (N1+1) new sequences with different lengths according to the stripe width N1, and an optimal interception length N is obtained through analysis of amplitude spectrum information of each new sequence; (S3) according to the optimal interception length N, the to-be-filtered image Aim with the size of M*Nn is segmented into a pair of optimal to-be-filtered sub-images including Bim and Cim with the size of M*N; (S4) a trapped wave comb filter is used to filter the two optimal to-be-filtered sub-images including Bim and Cim respectively, and then a first sub-image Bimf and a second sub-image Cimf can be obtained; and (S5) brightness adjustment and fusion processing are conducted to the first sub-image Bimf and the second sub-image Cimf, so an image Aimf can be obtained. In comparison with existing methods for removing stripe noise, the method disclosed by the invention has the advantages that involved manual work is less; batched processing is efficient; filtering effects are good; and the method is especially applicable to processing of a lot of infrared video data containing stripe noise.
