Analysis of free convective effects about a rotating sphere in forced flow

1984
Abstract The Merk's series technique is used to study the momentum and heat transfer rates through laminar boundary layer over a rotating body in forced flow, when the buoyancy forces are not negligible. The momentum and energy equations are transformed to a set of coupled ordinary differential equations which depend explicitly on the wedge parameter, the buoyancy parameter, the rotation parameter and the Prandtl number. These equations are solved in the special case of a sphere, with a fourth order Runge-Kutta method.
