Interference patterns of the bistatic scattered field on a horizontal array in shallow water waveguide
2020
The scattered acoustic field in a shallow water waveguide is the coupling of propagation and scattering, which gives valuable information about scatters and shallow water environments. In this work, a numerical target scattering model, which combines the single scatter approximation with the boundary element method (BEM), is built to investigate the interference patterns of scattered waves on a horizontal array. The bistatic scattered field on a horizontal array is simulated by using the established model. Simulations illustrate that the acoustic interference patterns of the bistatic scattered field are more complicated due to the coupling of two-way propagation and scattering. It is found that although the striations are corrupted, the striations produced by the propagation from target to receiver are still distinguishable.
