Some (n, p) reactions cross sections for 14.7 MeV Neutrons

Abstract Total (n, p) reaction cross sections have been determined for 11 nuclei between A = 14 and 190 at a neutron energy of 14.7 MeV. A suggested minimum in the cross section for nuclei with a closed proton shell at Z = 20 has not been confirmed in our measurements. The results obtained for the different Ca and Os isotopes, support the empirical relation for the dependence of σ n,p on the mass number at fixed Z .
