Preparation of 1,2-Benzisoxazole 2-Oxides.

1,2-Benzisoxazole 2-oxides are prepared by the oxidative cyclisation of o-acylphenol oximes, using either lead(IV) acetate or sodium hypochlorite. The scope and limitations of the reaction are discussed.
