A brief introduction to multimethodology applied to governance and decision aid in socioecological complex systems

2014
This paper introduces the multimethodology concept and presents an application showing the benefits of its use in socioecological complex decision contexts. The application involves the combination of three methodologies: (1) MACBETH sociotechnical process decision aid; (2) system dynamics; (3) agent based modelling. The combination of the three methodologies helped the decision makers to assess ex-ante the impact of a policy involving complementary currency. The complementary currency, Sustento, was designed to incentive the Amazonian farmers of Machadinho d’Oeste to reforest their properties.
