Los vaivenes de las elecciones. El municipio de Tlalnepantla de Baz en el contexto electoral del Estado de México, 1997-2011

In this paper we review the changes in Mexico State’s elections in the 2000-2009 period, and in the Tlalnepantla de Baz Municipality in the 1997-2011 period. The first for the strategic importance of the State and as a context for the second, which economic and political importance in which the PAN has ruled for four consecutive municipal administrations is emblematic for the study of electoral realignment and misalignment. We considered two approaches that involved two approaches: a macro study of voting behavior, according to the aggregated data of the election using IEEEM information and a study of micro behaviors based on a set of surveys carried out in the Municipality between 1997 and 2011. This allowed us to review the misalignment and realignment processes and explain both as well as in macro-political terms as changing demos considering changing opponents of the major parties, PAN and PRI.
