NIR powered Janus nanocarrier for deep tumor penetration

2020
Abstract To improve the utilization and achieve deep tumor penetration of nanocarriers, we developed a Janus nanocarrier by simply sputter Au on a mesoporous silica nanocarrier. Such Janus nanocarrier with an Au surface that could achieve efficient NIR propulsion, which are helpful for enhancing interaction with cells. The porous silicon sphere could immensely improve the loading efficiency. This nanocarrier could achieve deep tumor penetration by thermomechanical percolating cytomembranes and sequentially on-off controlled release. This system integrates the functions of active seeking, cytomembranes percolating, and on-off controlled release in one nanocarrier, which further improves the utilization of nanocarriers, and reduces the side effects of drugs. We believe that this approach provides new insight into multifunctional nanocarriers for deep tumor penetration and drug delivery.
