Insulin and risk of CVD : Advantages and limitations using metaanalysis

Traditional study designs often do not reveal answers to important research questions. For example, answers to the question whether insulin increases risk of cardiovascular disease are still controversial. With the help of metaanalysis, which is a systematic review that provides quantitative results, it is possible to gain insight into the nature of the controversy. Advantages and limitations of the use of such an approach are discussed.
