Sensibilidad Antimicrobiana de E. coli en Niños con Infección de Vías Urinarias en una Clínica Privada. Primer Período 2010

The urinary tract infections are the third entitie encountered in pediatric practice. Escherichia coli is the most common pathogen. We analyze the E coli strains obtained of patients less than 16 years during the first six months of the year 2010. in 72 of the 78 positive urine cultures, E. coli were isolated. the sensitivity were: 70 (97.2%) to Amikacin, 58 (80.5%) Ceftriaxone, 54 (75%) Nitrofurantoin, 46 (63.8%) Norfloxacin 40 (55.5%) Cefazolin, 36 (50%) Cefalotin. All the strains were resistant to co-Amoxiclav, Piperacilin and Trimethoprim-Sulfamethoxazole. 56 (77.7%) were resistant to Cefuroxime, and 42 (58.3%) to Ampicillin.
