Creation of Radar-Absorbing Structures Based on Carbon Films

The universal method of creating inexpensive layered radar absorbing structures capable of operating within a wide frequency range has been proposed and experimentally investigated. The model of the created radar absorber can be represented as a two-layer structure mounted on a metal substrate. The top layer of the absorber is a resistive layer and the second layer is a dielectric layer, with a given thickness. The nanostructured carbon-introduced polyester film was used as a resistive layer. Silicone rubber with a thickness from 0.6 to 4 mm was used as a dielectric layer. Aluminum foil with an adhesive layer was used as a metal substrate. The experimental verification of the reflection coefficient from the radar absorbing structures was executed in 8-78 GHz frequency ranges. The created samples have high plasticity, flexibility, mechanical strength and they absorb more than 90% of electromagnetic energy.
