Effect of Potentilla anserine polysaccharide on levels of IL-6,IFN-γ and TNF-α in murine serum

Changes of levels of IL-6, IFN-γ and TNF-α in sera of mice were observed after the mice were treated with different Potentilla anserine polysaccharide doses of 100, 200 and 400mg/kg, respectively alone or together with cyclophosphamide of 100mg/kg in vivo by intraperitoneal injection. Results were as follows. P.anserine polysaccharide had functions to increase the level of IL-6 in a dose dependent manner and raised the level of IFN-γ significantly. The levels of IL-6,IFN-γ and TNF-α in mice treated with the cyclophosphamide dropped significantly,but P.anserine polysaccharide acted against immunosupress led by the drug and raised the levels of the three cytokines. The results showed that P.anserine can enhance immune functions in mice.
