Research progress on autophagy and virus infection
2018
Autophagy, as a regulatory mechanism of defense and stress in eukaryotes, plays an important role in maintaining cell survival, substance recycling, and homeostasis. And it is also an important means of eliminating intracellular pathogens, with an important role in anti-viral immunity.Autophagy has a dual role in viral infection. On the one hand, autophagy can directly degrade the virus through heterologous cytolysosome, and it can also help the immune system to clear the virus, on the other hand, some viruses have evolved corresponding mechanisms to combat autophagy in favor of self-survival.The latest advances in the relationship between anti-viral innate immune response and adaptive immune response, viral replication, and autophagy were summarized. We hope that it could provide some references for the anti-viral research.
