Effect of plasma pressure on the properties of a hybrid stellarator

A system in which the second and third harmonics of the helical field are superimposed is studied. The resulting equations reduce to those corresponding to traditional stellarator systems with four and six helical conductors when the appropriate limits are taken. In a hybrid configuration it is possible to raise the maximum plasma pressure, as a result of a displacement of the magnetic axis and by modifying the condition for disruption of the configuration by external kink perturbations.
