2017
The present deals with an attempt to study the antibacterial activity of the marine fungi, collected from the south east coastal area of Tamilnadu, India. The fungal species were isolated on Potato Dextrose Agar Media amended with Streptomycin. Isolated five different fungal species were tested for its anti bacterial activity against 5 different human bacterial pathogens. The study revealed that, among the used fungal species, Geotrichum candidum was found to be active against all human pathogenic bacterial strains. Geotrichum candidum may lead to the discovery of pharmaceutically valuable products. Keywords: Antibacterial activity, Geotrichum candidum, Potato Dextrose Agar, Streptomycin, Pharmaceutically valuable products.
