Evaluation of Performance, System Productivity, Profitability's and Available Soil Nutrient Dynamics of Hybrid Maize (Zea mays L.) with Urdbean and Mungbean under Different Row Ratio
2015
A field experiment was conducted during kharif season of 2013 on sandy loam soil at CRC of S.V.P.U.A. & T. Meerut. The experiment aimed to evaluation the performance, system productivity, profitability’s and available nutrient dynamics of hybrid maize with urdbean and mungbean under different row ratio. In this investigation 09 treatment combination viz., maize with normal (1:1), paired (2:2) and strip (3:3) planted urdbean and mungbean along with all the three crops in their sole stands were tested in randomized block design with 3 replications. The study revealed that strip planted maize+urdbean (3:3) being on par with maize+mungbean (3:3) recorded significantly highest values of growth parameters at 75 DAS and grain yield (45.6 q/ha), Likewise in intercrops, all the growth parameters at 50 DAS and yield was statistically superior in their sole as compared to normal (1:1), paired (2:2) and strip (3:3) planting with maize, except plant height. The results also indicated that maize+urdbean under strip (3:3) planting proved to be better in terms of system productivity viz., MGEY (59.71) and LER (1.59), Economics viz., gross return (93240), net returns (65528) and B:C ratio (2.36). Besides it, the combination of maize+mungbean improved organic carbon, organic matter and available nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium than initial and also highest itself as compared to other counterparts.
