Vinyl- and Arylphosphorus Derivatives

The importance of vinyl- and arylphosphorus derivatives, which are dealt with in this chapter, is increasing in many fields, due to their useful chemical and physical properties. For example, they have been utilized in various ways such as biologically active materials, synthetic tools, ligands for transition-metal catalysts, functional monomers, fire-retardants, surfactants, etc. Accordingly, recent advances in syntheses of these vinyl- and arylphosphorus derivatives are remarkable. In this chapter, the latest and important synthetic methods of a wide variety of these classes of phosphorus compounds in addition of the established ones are covered and briefly reviewed.
