Gastro-intestinal cytomegalovirus infection and extensive colonic ulceration in a renal transplant recipient.

1998
Cytomegalovirus (CMV) is one of the most common viral pathogens that complicate organ transplantation. In kidney transplant recipients, the organ most frequently involved in CMV infection is the lung. Gastrointestinal (GI) involvement, although less common, can also occur. We describe a case of cytomegalic inclusion disease that involved multiple sites of the GI tract and massive GI bleeding after kidney transplantation.
