"Education, Experience and Inertia in the Entrepreneurial Team:Effects on Organizational Growth"
2014
Employing a unique matched employer-employee data set we study how education, experience and inertia in entrepreneurial teams influence short-term and long-term organizational performance. Conditioned on survival we find that team members’ education and experience positively impact on the ventures subsequent performance and that this effect strengthens over time. Our results also support the idea that teams where members stay together during the early stages of founding (i.e. no team exits) have a higher likelihood for growth than other teams. Finally, we explore how these two explorations are substitutes.
