The disclosed monocular stereoscopic imaging device is provided with an imaging optical system that includes a zoom lens and an aperture, a pupil division unit for dividing light beams that have passed through the imaging optical system into multiple light beams, an imaging unit for receiving the aforementioned multiple light beams and continuously acquiring left-eye images and right-eye images, a zoom lens driving unit, an aperture driving unit for driving the aforementioned aperture to change the opening amount of the opening of said aperture, a display unit for displaying the aforementioned left-eye images and right-eye images so as to be perceivable as stereoscopic images, a display control unit for stereoscopically displaying on the aforementioned display unit the aforementioned left-eye images and right-eye images, an input unit for inputting instructions to change the focus distance, and a control unit for both controlling the aforementioned zoom lens driving unit so as to move the zoom lens depending on the aforementioned instructions to change the focus distance and also for controlling the aforementioned aperture driving unit so as to keep the stereoscopic effect of the left-eye images and right-eye images, which are stereoscopically displayed on the aforementioned display unit, substantially constant before and after movement of the zoom lens.
