Study on the Synthesis and Degradation of Branch Shape PBS-based Polyesters

2012
A series of biodegradable Poly(butylene succinate-co-1,2-propanediol succinates)(P(BS-co-1,2-PS)and Poly(butylene succinate)(PBS)was synthesized and degraded under soil suspension. The crystallization of products was characterized by X-ray.The experimental results were characterized by degradation rate and surface morphology. The outcome showed that the crystallization reduced as follows:PBSP(BS-co-1,2-PS)-10%P(BS-co-1,2-PS)-20%P(BS-co-1,2-PS)-30%,the degradation rate decreased as follows:P(BS-co-1,2-PS)-30% P(BS-co-1,2-PS)-20%P(BS-co-1,2-PS)-10%PBS.The sequence of degradation rate change was opposite with the crystallization. The results indicated that the symmetric properties of P(BS-co-1,2-PS)decreased with the addition of 1,2 propanediol. The connection of crystallization behavior and the degradation of polyesters can be included:the degradation increased with the decreased of the crystallization.
