Approccio sindromico alle malattie a trasmissione sessuale

This brief report on a syndrome-based approach to sexually transmitted diseases (STD) is the third of a series on the preparation of guidelines for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of STD by the Italian Study Groupon Venereal Diseases of the Italian Society of Dermatology and Venereology. The first two parts have already been published. 1 , 2 It is the result of a collaborative project involving a group of dermatologists and two gynecologists working on issues in STD. This form of collaboration brings together the specific capabilities of individual group members with expertise in pelvic inflammatory disease, for example, and secures a multidisciplinary perspective essential to the development of therapeutic protocols.
