Delayed papillary muscle rupture following percutaneous mitral balloon valvotomy

2008
Abstract We report on a case of Inoue balloon mitral valvotomy in a patient with low echo score that was complicated by papillary muscle rupture 36 h after the successful procedure. Our case highlights the importance of close follow-up of patients undergoing percutaneous mitral valvotomy even following a successful procedure on pliable non-calcified valves.
