Indicaciones de pruebas de imagen radiológica y endoscopia en la patología del tracto digestivo superior

2012
Simple X-ray or with contrast has lost importance in the diagnosis of digestive diseases. However, it is still used as a complementary or alternative procedure when the endoscopy study is rejected by the patient or cannot be completed. Techniques such as ultrasonography, computed tomography (CT scan) or Magnetic Resonance (MRI) have replaced the conventional X-ray in many indications. The endoscopy is the method of choice when there is suspicion of organic gastroduodenal disease. It covers different diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and should be performed with a correct indications since it is not exempt of complications.
