Artificial vision system for automatic activation of the hazard warning lights of a car accident if possible.

2006
Machine Vision system for automatic activation of the hazard warning lights of a car accident if possible. The system object of the invention is intended to perform the automatic activation of the hazard warning lights of a car in case it has detected a possible accident. It is an active safety system. Detection of possible accidents is by artificial vision. For this measure the distance and relative speed with respect to preceding vehicles using a camera installed inside the automobile is effected. The image received by the camera is processed by a hardware system on board the vehicle. As a result of processing made the distance and relative speed existing between the own vehicle and the preceding vehicle is obtained. If it is found that the relative speed between the two vehicles changes sharply to the risk of collision proceeds to perform automatic activation of hazard lights to warn other drivers.
