Progress in Clinical Research into Placental Growth Factor in Coronary Artery Disease

2007
Placental growth factor (PlGF) is a member of the VEGF family. Recent research has shown the relationship between PlGF and the progression of atherosclerosis plaque, indicating that PlGF may represent the instability of plaque. Clinical research has shown that serum PlGF level is an independent biomarker of adverse outcome in patients with chest pain and acute coronary syndrome patients. In addition, the level of PlGF increases in AMI patients and then acts to improve LVEF during the chronic phase.
