Natural hydrocarbon emissions in the United Kingdom

1991
Abstract Natural hydrocarbon emissions from both forests and agricultural lands have been estimated on a regional basis for the U.K. The results of this study suggest total emissions are significantly higher than is currently accepted, with the major forested areas of Scotland, Wales and the north of England dominating the area contributions. Non-methane hydrocarbons (NMHC) emitted from natural sources are estimated at 211 × 10 3 tC yr −1 which represents 13% of the total NMHC emissions in the U.K.
