A New Business Model: Sustainable Printed Tailoring for the C21st

This exhibition was part of the the TCBL_Live, 2016 conference held in Huddersfield in June 2016, consisting of exhibitions and a TED© style series of provocative, live presentations about general trends and issues shaping the future of the Textile and Clothing industry. For this two day conference I was asked to exhibit examples of my practice, specifically focusing on my codesign business model and initial findings and experimentation involving digital printing on quality worsted cloth for apparel production, a process that has so far being unsuccessful by manufacturers and artisans. Working in partnership with the Textile Centre of Excellence, research and development has been carried out into determining whether Multiple Laser Surface Enhancement (MLSE) technologies can be applied and adapted to revolutionise the digital printing process, creating a positive environmental impact by reducing the need for high levels of water, energy or chemicals. This exhibition displays early printing tests, mock garment of intent as well as stimulating print designs and proposed application to garment pieces. A 5 minute 5 slide powerpoint was also produced and presented to support.
