Compass4D stakeholder consultation

Cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems (C-ITS) is an ever-growing field within the transport sector. The Compass4D pilot project targets aims to improve road safety, increase energy efficiency and reduce congestion for road transport. Compass4D is supported by the European Commission under the Competitiveness and Innovation Programme (CIP). At 7 pilot sites Compass4D focusses on three services: Road Hazard Warning, Red Light Violation Warning and Energy Efficient Intersection Service. Through workshops with local and regional stakeholders including policy makers, road authorities, road operators, fleet operators (bus, trucks, taxi, and emergency), industry, consultants and research institutes barriers and enablers for the introduction of C-ITS were identified at each pilot site. Those insights and lessons learned are discussed in this paper, as is their influence on pilot operation, evaluation and development of deployment strategies.
