Vulnerabilidade ambiental em curtumes artesanais: um estudo sobre o município de Cabaceiras/PB, Brasil

The tannery generates great environmental impact and damages to the health of the workers and disruption to the surrounding residents. Thus, the objective is to analyze the environmental vulnerability of artisanal tanneries in Cabaceiras (Brazil). This study is based on the model of Turner et al. (2003) and field research. After analyzing the three dimensions, it was verified that the activity has a great impact on the environment due to the lack of proper structure. Moreover, the human actions are incipient without being able to reverse the degradation caused by the generated impacts. Therefore, the leather tanning activity presented a negative analysis regarding the environmental vulnerability in the studied municipality.
