Modal Optimization Analysis of Large-Scale Modular Deployable Structure for SAR

2017
As the key part for SAR satellite missions, the deployment performance of the deployable structure has direct effects on satellite’s imaging quality. Since the requirements for imaging precision and the payload operation modes have been advanced, the size of SAR antennas needs to be much larger than before. To deal with this problem, the method of modularization is used to construct the deployment mechanisms which is more effective for the on-orbit deployment. This paper presents modal optimization analysis for the large modularized SAR deployment mechanism. With the researches on the effect from the stiffness of hinges, the section area of rods and the configuration of the structure to the fundamental frequency, modal optimization design is achieved as well as the goal for minimum structural mass.
