Investigation of Factors Affecting Nano-dielectric Strength under High Voltage Stress using Finite Element Method

In nanocomposite, nano interface is considered as the cause for better insulation strength, but its understanding is still unknown. In this paper, the focus is on the interface of the filler/polymer matrix. The finite element simulation results show many aspects to enhance the dielectric strength by investigating nanocomposite. First, it has been found that as the permittivity of the nanofiller, polymer base and interface permittivity increases the dielectric strength increases. At last, a novel approach has been taken into account by configuring two particles hierarchically in search to find the best configuration for better insulation. Finally, the practical importance of this work is, it can be used to understand nano interface in nanodielectrics and future investigators can use this study as a reference to choose material for experimental investigation in order to obtain better insulation.
