THE ELEMENT BASMAT (BASISMATRICES) WITHIN THE NEW REGIONAL MODEL (NRM); THE MODEL STRUCTURE INTENDED FOR THE ESTIMATION OF ORIGIN DESTINATION (O-D) MATRICES FOR A BASE YEAR

This paper describes the design and development of the New Regional Model (NRM) "toolbox" for the estimation of Origin Destination (O-D) matrices for a base year (BASMAT). This toolbox offers the user the instrument to integrally calculate the effects of the total mobility in each province of the Netherlands. In doing so, the toolbox contains separate matrices for the following travel modes: (1) car use; (2) public transport; and (3) business traffic.
