The Primary School Students’ Anxiety and Attitudes Towards Basic Courses: an investigation of Gender and Academic Achievement

In this study; the anxiety degrees and the attitudes about the courses Science and Technology, Mathematics, Turkish and Social Sciences of the students who attending to the second degree of the primary public school and it was examined to see whether there is a difference between their gender and academic success changeables of the students. The example of this study is about for the students of second degree who are attending to the classes 6,7 and 8 of the primary public school in Sakarya. Application is in the term of the educational year 2009-2010 on the second term. The total mentioned students as girl (107, 43 %) and boy (142, 57 %) are 249. As the data collection tools, attitude and state concern scales in science and technology, mathematic, Turkish and social courses and also SBS of 2010 scores which is examined by National Education Ministry was used. In the tested of research questions, “ANOVA and Single Direction Variance t-Test” were used. It was observed in the findings of the study that: It was not observed a meaningful difference between instant anxiety points average with the students gender for the Science and Technology, Mathematics, Social Sciences and Turkish courses. There is a significant difference between attitude scores of Turkish course and gender variable. There are a significant difference between instant anxiety Turkish course, attitudes towards Science course, Turkish course and academic success.
