espanolDesde hace dos decadas se ha dado un aumento importante del numero de personas inmigrantes en Espana. Ello ha tenido un impacto en el numero de personas sin hogar de origen extranjero que ha pasado de un porcentaje insignificante a representar mas del 50% del total de las personas sin hogar. Este incremento ha sumado un nuevo problema a anteriores no resueltos, ?que hacer con las personas con problemas de salud mental que duermen en la calle?, ?cual es la mejor manera de atenderlas? ?estan en la calle por haber tenido problemas de salud mental o estos han sido precipitados por su estancia en la calle? Los nuevos perfiles traen aparejadas nuevas preguntas en cuanto a la etiologia de los problemas de salud mental y la manera de abordarlos con personas culturalmente distintas. El articulo hace un repaso de las principales investigaciones sobre el tema y propone algunos enfoques novedosos que han surgido en los ultimos anos EnglishFor two decades there has been a significant increase in the number of migrants in Spain. This has had an impact on the number of homeless people of foreign origin that has gone from a negligible percentage to represent more than 50% of the homelessness. This increase has added a new problem to previous unresolved: what to do with people with mental health problems who sleep on the street? What is the best way to provide care? Are they on the street because they have had mental health problems or have these been precipitated by their stay on the street? The new profiles bring with them new questions regarding the etiology of mental health problems and how to approach them with culturally different people. The article reviews the main research on the subject and proposes some innovative approaches that have risen in recent years.
