Planificación de Frecuencias para Televisión Digital Terrestre (TDT) en el Ecuador

The Digital terrestrial television provides greater signal robustness against noise and interference. In addition, it allows the transmission of several television services over the same radio channel and optimizes the use of the radio spectrum through the use of single frequency networks. However, in Ecuador one of the main advantages of DTT networks has not being used, the possibility of using single frequency networks. Which leads to a non-optimal use of the radio spectrum. In this article, in the first place, the most suitable mode of transmission for Ecuador is presented according to its extension and topography. In addition, a frequency planning for Ecuador is proposed using single frequency networks based on sequential coloring planning algorithms, thus optimizing the use of the radioelectric spectrum. Finally, planning exercises of a real network of the TV channel Ecuador TV are presented, which has 96 transmitters throughout the country, both, coverage and interference for the proposed planning was checked.
