Dynamic Contrast-Enhanced Magnetic Resonance Imaging in Brain Tumors
2019
Abstract In this chapter, we briefly explain the fundamentals of dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI) and describe the parameters that can be determined from DCE-MRI. Unbiased estimates of model parameters are emphasized. We also discuss the uses of Patlak and Logan plots in DCE-MRI. We summarize the progress of DCE-MRI use in cerebral tumors, with particular focus on studies in cerebral tumors and convection-enhanced delivery (CED) of drugs. Mechanical and fluid relationships in model cerebral tumors, as determined by DCE-MRI and related MRI procedures, can be useful for determining fluid conductivities, fluxes, and tissue deformations, all of which directly relate to CED in the same tissue.
