Analysis of Intracerebral Stress Distribution and Its Effect on Regional Blood Flow in Chronic Subdural Hematoma
1993
Deformation of brain and intracerebral stress distribution in cases with chronic subdural hematoma were computer simulated by finite element method(FEM). The deformation of the brain by chronic subdural hematoma was well represented by the simulation. The stress concentrated in the area just beneath the hematoma and around the falx cerebri. The area of stress concentration coincides with the area of decreased regional cerebral blood flow measured by SPECT.
