Body Fat and Adipose Tissue Determinations by Computed Tomography and by Measurements of Total Body Potassium

Recent investigations have demonstrated associations between hypertension, hyperinsulinemia, diabetes, hypertriglyceridemia, cardiovascular disorders, stroke and death on one hand, and obesity and adipose tissue (AT) distribution on the other (Krotkiewski et al., 1983; Evans et al., 1983; Larsson et al., 1984; Lapidus et al., 1984; Seidell et al., 1988; Sjostrom et al., 1989). One important prerequisite for an increased knowledge in this field is improved body composition techniques.
