Percepción de profesores investigadores sobre políticas educativas neoliberales en México

2019
Neoliberalism in the field of higher education entails drastic changes in the mandate of education and a reorganization of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) around the subordination of knowledge and training to market objectives. The understanding that professors-researchers have in this regard is essential to comprehend the scope of these policies. This research was carried out in two research centers of the National Polytechnic Institute of Mexico, one in the area of social sciences and another in basic sciences. For the analysis, Foucault and Sartre’s approach subjectivity was used, using a Likert scale questionnaire as a methodological tool in which the perception of the professors-researchers was evaluated regarding: institutional identity; the responsibility of HEIs within society; institutional policies for academic and research strengthening; collaborative work through participation in internal and external research projects; the work environment; and interdisciplinarity. Two open questions that were interpreted through the categorization method were included. The conclusion is that there is a perception that is not favorable to institutional policies, there is a perception that they are not clear and it is not understood how they contribute to the institutional mission and vision. In addition, the results show the need to strengthen collaborative relationships both between research professors and between them and officials. But, above all, a positive and conclusive perception is identified regarding the responsibility of HEIs within society and the need for interdisciplinary research to solve the main social problems.
