Method and apparatus for the decomposition of nitrous oxide

2009
The nitrous oxide-containing gas 1 is diluted by a dilution gas. 2 The diluent gas is almost 2 freed in the drier 3 of water shares. After the supply of the diluent gas 2 via the feed line 13 12 exhaust gas 8 from the catalytic decomposition 7 is admixed 4. After admixture 4 of the exhaust gas 8 from the catalytic nitrous oxide decomposition 7 the nitrous oxide-containing feed gas, nitrous oxide-containing feed gas 12 is compressed 5 and into the heat exchanger 6 guided. In the heat exchanger 6, the nitrous oxide-containing feed gas is preheated by heat exchange with the exhaust gas 8 12th The exhaust gas 8 is then cooled in the heat exchanger. 6 The preheated nitrous oxide-containing feed gas 12 is conducted via a further optional heater 11 as an insert in the catalytic decomposition of nitrous oxide. 7 In order to avoid a concentration of construction, a part of the exhaust gas 8 is conducted from the process 9. The exhaust gas 8 is further cooled by a further optional heat exchanger 10 degrees. The additional cooling by the heat exchanger 10 ensures that subsequent devices such as the compressor to be protected from overheating. Through the heat exchanger 10, the permissible temperature of the part of the exhaust gas 8 can be controlled here is discharged to the atmosphere 9. For optimum control of the inlet temperature of the nitrous oxide-containing feed gas 12 may be used in the catalytic decomposition 7, at least a part of the nitrous oxide-containing feed gas 12 to the heat exchanger 6 ...
