Consulta odontológica e doença sistêmica: análise do conhecimento dos cirurgiões-dentistas em Itajaí-SC

The medical history taken is made in the first contact between the dentistry and his patient. The information obtained shall be reported in a clinical record. Due to the increase in the number of patients in different age groups that require different treatment, there is a need for standardization of the clinical records. Considering the importance of this stage of dental care, a search with the objective of verifying the frequency and quality of medical history practiced by the dentists in action in Itajai was developed . It was administered a questionnaire, with eight questions open and closed. The results were analyzed according to the categories of training time and expertise. 20.40% of the dentists registered with Regional Council of Dentistry of Santa Catarina (CROSC) were interviewed. It was found that most respondents made the medical history taken already in the first contact with the patient and most common chronic disease are diabetes and the cardiovascular. It was concluded that the dentist interviewees value the achievement of critical medical histories taken.
