Structure of the negative parity bands in 125Xe
2007
The high-spin structures of 125 Xe were studied by using in-beam γ-ray spectroscopy with the 116 Cd ( 13 C, 4n) 125 Xe reaction at E lab = 62 MeV. The level scheme of 125 Xe was constructed through the γ-y coincidences and γ-y angular directional correlation ratios. Several negative parity bands built on the neutron h 11/2 orbital were identified. In contrast to the yrast h 11/2 band with a large signature splitting, the second (yrare) h 11/2 band exhibits a small signature splitting, showing signature inversion below I π = 23/2 - . In addition, a band built on the 27/2 - level at 3619 keV was newly observed and found to be associated with a three quasiparticle alignment based on a neutron in the h 11/2 orbital coupled to a pair of protons in the h 11/2 orbital, namely, the ν[h 11/2 ]π[(h 11 / 2 ) 2 ] configuration.
