Effect of atorvastatin on middle-aged women with acute coronary symdrome after percutaneous coronary intervention

2010
Objective:To study the effect and safety of atorvastatin on the inflammatory cytokine level in the middle-aged women patients with acute coronary syndrome(ACS) after percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI) and to investigate its adjusting lipid effect and the incidence of advase events. Methods:A total of 60 patients with ACS after successful PCI were divided into middle-aged (40-59 years old) or old-aged (60-75 years old) groups. Two groups were given atorvastatin 40 mg/d.Blood was taken before PCI,immediate postoperation, postoperative 1 week and 1 month for detecting serum high-sensitive C-creative protein (hs-CRP),lipids,alanine aminotransferase (ALT).Rerults:(1)The morbidity of hyperlipidemia was lower in middle-aged group than in older-aged group.(2) hs-CRP had no significant difference in two groups before PCI.(3) hs-CRP was significantly increased in both groups.(4) hs-CRP was significantly reduced at 1 week and 1 month after PCI in two groups. Conclusion:Although lipids of middle-aged women with ACS are lower, but hs-CRP is significantly increased. Atorvastatin could decrease the level of hs-CRP and alleviate the inflammatory reaction of atheromatous plaque in coronary artery.
