Active Flow Control past a circular cylinder at $\text{Re}=2000$

2021
In the present numerical study, we apply spanwise-independent, time-dependent, fluidic actuation on the flow past a circular cylinder at Reynolds number 2000. The actuation takes place in two configurations: in-phase and out-of-phase blowing and suction from the slits located at ±90° (top and bottom) with respect to the upstream stagnation point. Parametric study is conducted to seek the optimal forcing amplitude against natural forcing frequency together with twice and four time the natural forcing frequencies. Reverse period doubling cascade has been observed to occur with twice the forcing frequency when forcing amplitude was increased.
