We wish to thank Dr. Edelson and Dr. Rockey for their interest in and comments on our original manuscript investigating anesthesia complications related to endoscopic procedures among patients with cirrhosis.(1) We appreciate their remarks on incorporating objective measures (e.g., model for end-stage liver disease [MELD] score) when evaluating patients for procedural or sedation risk, as well as providing an algorithm for sedation in cirrhosis patients.(2).
