UJI AKTIVITAS ANTIBAKTERI DARI DEKOKTA DAN EKSTRAK KLOROFORM ALGA Cladophora sp. PADA BAKTERI GRAM POSITIF DAN NEGATIF

2019
Introduction: Infectious diseases can be caused by bacteria, both Gram positive and negative bacteria. Algae are known to have antibacterial properties, one of which is Cladophora sp. Cladophora sp is a green algae that is known to have broad-spectrum antibacterial activity. The aim of this study was to determine the antibacterial activity of decoction and extract chloroform of algae Cladophora sp against Gram positive and negative bacteria. Methods: laboratory-based experimental studies in vitro with wells and macrodilution methods. Zone of Inhibition (ZOI) test is carried out by hole or well method. The Minimum Inhibitory Concentrations (MIC) was tested by the macrodilution method using a test tube and assessed by looking at turbidity and sediment on the bottom of the tube. The Minimum Bactericidal Concentration (MBC) is carried out on petri dishes that have been given nutrients so that they can see growth from bacteria. Results: The mean value of ZOI at 100% concentration shows the greatest value compared to other concentrations. In S.aureus bacteria, the decoction ZOI mean value (16.67 ± 1.53) was greater than chloroform extract (10.67 ± 0.58). Whereas in E. coli bacteria the average value of chloroform extract (10.00 ± 1.00) was greater than the value of decoction (8.33 ± 1.53). In the MIC test the S.aureus bacteria reached a concentration of 50% in the decoction and chloroform extract of Cladophora sp. and E. coli bacteria only at a concentration of 100% for decoction and chloroform extract Cladophora sp. In the test MBC decoction and chloroform extract did not have bactericidal ability. Conclusion: Decoction and chloroform extract Cladophora sp. has stronger antibacterial activity against S.aureus. Decoction and chloroform extract Cladophora sp. has the ability to inhibit bacterial growth (bacteriostatic).
