STRATEGI MEMBANGUN MOTIVASI EKSTRINSIK SANTRI DALAM MENINGKATKAN KUALITAS BACA KITAB KUNING (Studi Kasus di Pondok Putra Tebuireng Jombang)

Abstract: This article discusses the strategy of building santri (student) motivation in improving quality of reading  yellow book. Motivation is a soul that must always live in students or learning process. Pondok Tebuireng saw that the motivation of Santri when learning in Pondok is different. So that evaluation to keep the motivation of learning is a priority to realize vision and mission of Pesantren Tebuireng that is leading pesantren generating morality leaders. Pondok Tebuireng for male has a lot of learning activities such as takhasus (bandongan and sorogan), Qur'an recitation, school with full day system, and also additional programs such as yasin and tahlil readings. All of these activities certainly need motivation motivation from self santri. Therefore, the writers studies the related problem in qualitaitf research, in case studies. Interviewees who were interviewed were chosen purposively related to the research objectives. In collecting data writers use observation methods, interviews, and documentation. While for the analysis the the writers use data reduction, data presentation and conclusion. The result of this research can be concluded that the strategy of constructing the students' extrinsic motivation in improving the quality of yellow book reading conducted by Pondok Putra Tebuireng is the most basic by scanning psychologically for the purpose of grouping into classes so that it can be recognized various santri background and IQ level, thus maintaining and motivating learning can be integrated well.
