Olive oil oleocanthal and estrogen receptor expression

2021
Abstract Oleocanthal is a naturally occurring phenolic compound in olive oil. Oleocanthal is the main component responsible for throat irritation and pungency of olive oil. The compound has demonstrated multiple favorable health activities such as antiinflammatory, antioxidant, anticancer, and neuroprotective effects. This chapter summarizes the current evidence from literature for the effect of oleocanthal on estrogen receptor binding and expression.
