The present invention relates to a negative electrode composite material for a lithium ion battery and its preparation method. A lithium ion battery composite negative electrode material comprises a substrate and a carbon-containing layer formed on the surface of the substrate, the substrate comprising a nano-silicon, lithium-containing compound with the carbon powder mixture, the carbon-containing layer covering the particle surface of the base and acts to connect different matrix effect without amorphous carbon layer. A method of preparing a lithium ion battery negative electrode composite material, which is a step wherein the nano-silicon, lithium hydride, carbon powder, and the organic carbon precursor blend additive such as surfactant then pulverized low temperature cure, conditions which exclude oxygen in at high temperature carbonization process. The present process is simple, low cost, has a capacity of composite material, better cycle performance, broad application prospect.
